Hi I am Kaz, originally from the country of the Rising Sun (Japan). This shop is like my home; I have been hanging around Aloha before I even started working here all those years ago and then from marketing to business development and now training and having fun ... I love the shop and how you can meet so many different crews from all over the world, talking about waves, life and making it great! I’m proud to be associated with Aloha – IT IS my home.

I'm Pito from Italy. I've been surfing all around the world and ended up in Manly working with the best team ever at Aloha. From working in Italy managing a Surf Rental shop I have met many great people. I am proud to be part of this family and work, managing with Surf Equipment Hire and Rentals at the shop, including managing the Rental Management System (RMS).

Hi I'm Tim, I'm the oldest and saltiest of the team, but refuse to believe it, surfing is my religion and try to pray as much as possible, working for this business has been one long, super fun ride that hasn't closed out yet. Love the Aloha Crew and what we do!

I'm Jaine. I've been married to the old salty for 10 years and the shop for 13. I know very little about surfing, apart from what I know through osmosis. Luckily I can push numbers around a computer and cover all the other ‘stuff’ like: running the business and ensuring we all work well, pay tax, develop professionally and become the best we can be... Someone has to do it and everyone does their bit…!

Hi I'm Mannix, I'm 5. I've spent my whole life in the shop. I dont quite surf yet but I will when I'm 6. The kids at school think I'm pretty special because my dad has a surf shop right at the end of the street. The best thing about being at the shop is hanging out with the kids.

Hi, my name is Rodrigo AKA "Bobby". I love surfing, and getting barrelled and project-manage for Aloha in between waves, putting my long standing industry experience into practice. I love this work!

Hi, I am Jeremy, alias "Frenchy". I am from south west coast of France. I have been surfing all over Australia and ended up down here in Manly. I’ve been part of the Aloha crew since I first came in Manly. I feel like a kid in a candy store. As the waves we surf around here are awesome and I love being part of this family who supports me so much!
We're the shop dogs. We're getting on now with Sushi being 12 and Sumo being 11. We've been coming to the shop with mum and dad since we were puppies. We know the rules and we try to help dad sell boards. We love a pat from anyone who'll give us their time.

History

HISTORY

Aloha Surf Shop was born in 1991 (pretty obvious if you look closely at some of the dodgy fashion in the photos).

It was the brain child of Damian Hardman, that years World Champion Surfer, Greg Clough, arguably one of the best shapers in the world at the time, as well as John Brookes, and Doug Lees.

The Aloha Surf Team was jammed with brilliant surfers on the world tour like Barton Lynch, Pam Burridge, Luke Egan, and Shane Powers. Over the years we have continued to support some of the best young surfers of our time including Nathan Hedge, Richie Lovett, Kai Otton, Dayyan Neve, and Matt Bemrose.

In time Timmy, the store manager since 1992, (And yes, if you look closely, that IS Tim in 2 of the photos) has bought the store from partners who went on to do other things or retire. The vibe that’s been created is relaxed and fun, just like surfing should be.

Over the years we’ve had great times, making friends and constantly welcoming surfing travelers from around the world (probably helped by our presence in the Lonely Planet as a destination store). We’ve even had a loose backpackers upstairs, back in the day when there weren’t so many rules.

We’ve stood the test of time because we eat, breath, and sleep surfing and its people. Our staff come from all around the surfing world to create what we call ‘The Aloha Family’.
